Qualifications and Registrations
Currently in the UK there are no laws for anyone who calls themselves a counsellor or hypnotherapist to have any form of qualifications or be a member of any organisations. To improve standards the government set up the Accredited Register program
I am currently a voluntary member of a register called the National Counselling Society (NCS) which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. In order to be accredited all members of NCS have had to prove they meet the demanding standards that the Professional Standards Authority have set. As a member of NCS I am bound by its Code of Ethical Practice and follow all guidance in order to stay fit to practice.
