About Me

Hi, and thank you for visiting my website. Taking the first step to seek support takes courage, and I want you to know you’re not alone.
I’m Carol (they/them), a qualified counsellor based in the UK, and I work with adults and older teens (15+) who are navigating anxiety, identity, sexuality and low self-esteem. I offer a calm, supportive, and confidential space—whether that’s online or out in nature through walk and talk sessions—where you can explore your experiences at your own pace and begin to make the changes that feel right for you.
Living with anxiety and periods of low mood has been part of my own journey. I’ve also struggled with questions around identity — who I was, and where I truly belonged — which made those times even harder. These personal experiences shape the empathy, patience, and non-judgement I bring to my work. I understand how important it is to feel heard and genuinely understood.
After many years working in warehousing and retail, I decided to retrain as a counsellor. I was missing meaning in my life and wanted to do something that truly made a difference. Part of what held me back for so long was the feeling that I wasn’t good enough—that people like me didn’t belong in higher education or in a profession like counselling. Taking that leap wasn’t easy, but with the encouragement of those around me and a growing belief in myself, I found a path that finally felt right.
I recently completed my BSc in Psychology (Counselling) with First Class Honours—something I never thought I could do. Returning to education later in life was full of doubt. I questioned whether I was capable, whether I could keep up, and whether I truly belonged. But step by step, with support and perseverance, I found my confidence. That journey has become a big part of who I am as a counsellor—someone who understands what it’s like to feel uncertain, but who also knows that growth and change are possible. My studies, along with my experience volunteering for the mental health charity Mind, have deepened my understanding of mental health and human behaviour—and continue to shape how I work with clients today.
Alongside my counselling work, I’ve also developed a strong interest in the research side of psychology—particularly in how theory and evidence can support therapeutic practice. I hope to pursue further research in the future, with the aim of contributing to a deeper understanding of the challenges people face and how best to support them.
Outside of counselling, I enjoy playing amateur football—it keeps me active, gives me a sense of community, and helps me switch off from the stresses of everyday life. I also love spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for long walks or simply being surrounded by nature. Being outside helps me feel grounded, calm, and more connected to myself and the world around me.
I’m a long-time fan of science fiction, especially classics like The Matrix, Star Trek, and The X-Files. I’ve always been drawn to the way sci-fi blends imagination with deeper questions about identity, reality, and what lies beyond the ordinary. It’s not just escapism—it’s a space that invites curiosity, reflection, and a bit of wonder. That curiosity also means I’m open to the idea that there’s more to life than what we can always see or explain, including the paranormal.
If any part of this has resonated with you, please feel free to get in touch. I’d be happy to talk about how we might work together.
